My Style File Collections for Yamaha Keyboard

As I've promised, here are some dangdut (Indonesian traditional music) style file collections, these styles have been tested work good on Yamaha keyboard DGX series and PSR series (PSR 1500, PSR  3000, PSR S700 and PSR S900). If you find these collection doesn't work good on some other series, I'll be very thank you if you would like to inform me, so I can try to make it better.

Style File: Automatic Accompaniment

Style or Arranger is your backing band. The Style or Arranger is an interactive “playback sequencer” that provides the accompaniments. These accompaniments are called “Music Styles”, because the musical phrases (“patterns”) they play concentrate on a given musical genre (Rock, Pop, Dance, Waltz, etc.).

The Style not only provides a rhythm section but also chords, guitar and synthesizer riffs and so on. The accompaniment can be transposed in realtime. All you have to do is play a different chord (usually with your left hand).

All keyboard producers have built-in their styles in their product. But actually they don't cover all style we need. If we need to play a unique style as according our preference, we need a new style file. Every keyboard producers has their own style files. For example: style file for Yamaha is *.sty, Roland is *.stl, Technic is *.cpm etc. And the style isn't interchangeable. So we should have different style file for different keyboard brand. But we can still use our favourite style file by convert it to keyboard brand we have. I will tell u how to convert ur style in the next post. So dont miss it. :D

How to get a style file?

Here is the way:

1. U can ask ur music counter where u buy your keyboard to give spesific style as u need.

2. Search it on internet.

3. Make ur own style file by convert from MIDI file.

4. Convert style file other brand keyboard as I tell above.

Beginner Trick: Transpose Function

As a beginner, so as me, playing music with different root chord (not C chord) on keyboard is so difficult. Sometimes, we give up in this situation. 

Take it easy, dude.. 

Keyboard maker has consider this. They provide a cool function called as "transpose function." With this function, we can play all song with different root chord although we just know basic chord such as C, F, and G. We can play all song as professional can do. :D

Transpose function will help you go on playing in that key while sounding in another one. That way, you can accompany a singer or instrument without changing your fingering.

I will tell u about transpose function on Roland. Here we go:

(1) Press the [TRANSPOSE] button or press the [TRANSPOSE] field on the main page.

Here is what will u see on ur keyboard display:

(2) On ur keyboard display, press the [KEYBOARD] 

(3) Then, press the key that corresponds to the note you would like to hear each time you play a C. 

For example: If u wanna play a song with root chord D, u have to press 2. Then u can play any songs with root chord D with fingering on C. 

It's so cool dude.. U don't have to use black key.. :D
